Scenic Woods Park

Kraftsman worked with the Houston Parks Board as part of the 50/50 Park Partners initiative, a joint effort between the City of Houston and the Houston Parks Board aimed at revitalizing and improving public parks across the city. Partnering with Lauren Griffith Associates, Kraftsman helped design and install upgrades for Scenic Woods Park, creating a fun, safe, and relaxing environment for the community to enjoy.

The project scope includes the installation of a new play structure with engineered wood fiber surfacing, ensuring a safe and accessible play area for children. To enhance park security, 300 wood bollards were added to prevent vehicular traffic from entering the park. The scope also involved installing outdoor fitness equipment with poured-in-place surfacing, offering residents the opportunity to engage in physical activity. Other improvements include new bleachers, a renovated gazebo with new tables, and a painted basketball court with updated backboards.

The project further included repairs to the asphalt walking trails, new ADA-compliant concrete walk access at three locations, and the installation of a new detention pond and underground drainage system to improve water management and prevent flooding.

The 50/50 Park Partners initiative is designed to foster collaboration between the city and private sector partners to enhance public parks, providing better amenities and ensuring parks remain inviting, safe, and accessible for all community members. Kraftsman was thrilled to be a partner in revitalizing multiple parks within this initiative, contributing to the improvement of green spaces that serve as valuable community assets.
